Terms of Service

Please read these terms before using Second Tail. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to them. Second Tail is operated by Jarrett Hyder (doing business as “Second Tail”); in these terms, “we,” “us,” and “Second Tail” refer to that operator.


What is Second Tail?

Second Tail is a foster coordination platform built for animal rescue organizations and their foster parents. It gives rescue organizations tools to manage their foster networks — inviting fosters, tracking animal care, and communicating with their team — and gives foster parents a simple dashboard to stay connected with their rescue.

Second Tail is currently in beta. That means the platform is actively being developed and improved. Some features may change, and you may occasionally encounter bugs. We appreciate your patience.

Who can use Second Tail?

Second Tail is intended for two types of users:

  • Rescue organizations — registered nonprofits or animal rescue groups that manage foster programs.
  • Foster parents — individuals approved by a rescue organization to foster animals through the platform.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By signing up, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Your responsibilities

When using Second Tail, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information when creating your account and using the platform.
  • Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with others.
  • Use the platform only for its intended purpose — coordinating animal foster care.
  • Treat other users with respect in all communications within the platform.
  • Not misuse, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the platform or its services.

Subscriptions & billing

Second Tail is always free for foster parents. Rescue organizations pay a monthly subscription to use the rescue management tools. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

  • Monthly & auto-renewing. Plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until you cancel. Your payment method is charged the plan price at the start of each billing period.
  • Cancel anytime. You can cancel whenever you like from Billing → Manage Billing in your account, which opens our payment processor’s secure portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then.
  • No refunds. Subscription payments are non-refundable. When you cancel, you won’t be billed again and you keep access through the period you’ve already paid for. We may, at our sole discretion, issue a goodwill refund in exceptional cases.
  • Pricing & changes. Current pricing is shown on our pricing page. If we change the price of your plan, we’ll notify you by email beforehand, and the new price applies on your next renewal.
  • Failed payments. If a payment fails, we may suspend access to the paid tools until your billing is brought up to date.
  • Secure processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

Beta service — provided as-is

Second Tail is provided as-is during its beta period. While we work hard to keep things running smoothly, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that the platform will be error-free at all times. We are not liable for any losses or disruptions caused by downtime or bugs during this phase.

We reserve the right to update, change, or discontinue any part of the platform at any time, and will do our best to communicate significant changes in advance.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Second Tail’s total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim.

Account termination

Second Tail may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, misuse the platform, or engage in harmful or abusive behavior. If your account is terminated, you will be notified where possible.
